Cook Islands Heroes: Reyon Kay

Kia orana everyone! Kuki Airani Language Week is coming August 1st and I’ve got a new book to help celebrate the week. It’s a collection of achievers who have Cook Islands ancestry – from legends, through history and into the present. The aim of this book is to inspire Kuki Airani young people and anyone else who loves reading stories of people who overcame great challenges to achieve their goals in life.

Today’s Cook Islands hero is Reyon Kay

Reyon (Mauke, Mitiaro, Atiu, Mangaia) is a world champion of Inline Skating – that’s the sport of racing on inline skates. “It was an amazing feeling to achieve the ultimate goal in my sport,” he says. “Although I represent New Zealand, I feel as though I am representing my Cook Islands roots and my Cook Islands family also.” Read more about Reyon’s achievements in Cook Islands Heroes
