NCEA Writing

Workshop: NCEA writing

Intended audience: Years 11-12
Duration: 1 day
Technology: projector, screen, sound
Description: The aim of this workshop is to help students with one of the pieces of writing required for NCEA literacy. Students will write a profile of a person they admire. Teachers are encouraged to involve themselves fully in the workshop as learners and to attend the post teacher deep dive.

Writing skills learned include:

  • Audience aware
  • Intro no trouble
  • Body building paragraphs
  • Quote unquote
  • The finishing touch
  • How to check yourself

I will also share some of the challenges I go through as a writer and ways I overcome these challenges – to show students that everyone struggles with writing, but we can do it!

Cost: $1800 plus gst plus travel costs (IRD travel rate – 83c per km). You may be able to get funding assistance from Read NZ Te Pou Muramura.

“Great to see so many of our less engaged students really enjoying the sessions. Very positive feedback from the students. I have noticed a change in motivation already. Loved it and would definitely do it again!”
