Teach writing with the arts

Intended audience: teachers
Duration: 2 hours (can be modified to suit)
Technology: projector, screen, sound
Description: This workshop shows teachers how to use the arts to help students enjoy writing and become better writers. The workshop is explicit about how to teach and support students to practice writing skills.

Strategies are practical and fun and include:

• Using visual art to help writing
• Connecting oral language with writing
• Simple drama activities that help writing
• Cooperative learning strategies strengthen writing

I will also show some ways students can share their writing with their families and the school community.
