Unleashing Creativity
Today was an awesome time at Waitākere College in West Auckland. My goal was to leave the young people thinking they can be great readers and writers.
“Thank you for the amazing talk. I have taken home a book to study and then I can return it. And I love how you talk to us about how good it is to read” (Year 10 student)
“I had one student discuss it with me afterwards. He has been a reluctant writer. He was excited to show me the book he was writing but he wanted to finish first. This feedback was given enthusiastically and independently. I didn’t ask for it. For the rest of the week he was enthusiastic about being in English and completed all of his work. I feel this was a great shift in his approach and I wish I could have been there to see how this occurred.” (English teacher)
