Samoan Heroes Episode 7: Judge Ida Malosi
Ida Malosi is the first woman of Pasifika heritage to become a Judge in New Zealand. Ida was thinking of studying Law at Otago Uni but was put off when she went into the lecture and saw no brown students. “This subject is for rich people, I’ll never cut it,” she thought. Later, Ida moved to Wellington to live with her sister. She enrolled at Vic Uni and when she saw a group of Polynesian students walk into a Law lecture it gave her the encouragement to believe that maybe she could study Law. Four years later she graduated with a Law degree!
‘Know that your talents are from God. Then use the talents God gave you to do his work. Give back.’ Judge Ida Malosi
You can read about more about Ida’s life journey in my upcoming book on Samoan heroes.
