Aiming Up with Kieran Read
Today Reading Warrior launched a new book in the Reading Warriors series of biographies. This is the story of the All Blacks captain, Kieran Read. My favourite anecdote from the book comes from when Kieran was in year 12. He was really thin and was considering whether to focus on cricket or rugby. His rugby coach asked a NZ rugby selector to come and give him advice. “You’re too small, you should play cricket,” the selector told Kieran after watching him play. When the selector left, Kieran said to his rugby coach, “Nah, I think I can do it, I’m going to stick with rugby.”
