Cook Islands Heroes: Dr Sam Manuela

Kia orana everyone! It’s Kuki Airani Language Week and I’ve got a new book to help celebrate. Cook Islands Heroes is a collection of achievers who have Cook Islands ancestry – from legends, through history and into the present. The aim of this book is to inspire Kuki Airani young people and anyone else who loves reading stories of people who overcame great challenges to achieve their goals in life.

This week’s Cook Islands Hero is Dr Sam Manuela

Reading helps our minds grow and helps us to imagine great possibilities. Sam knows about the power of our minds too. He’s got a PhD in Psychology – that’s the study of the mind and behaviour. “I like to know why people think and feel the way they do about certain things and how that can influence their behaviours,” he says. Sam has links to Manihiki, Pukapuka, Atiu and Rarotonga. Read more about Sam’s achievements in Cook Islands Heroes.
