Tangaroa College Level 3 Drama presents: “Gen-Y”
People born in the years 1980-2000 are often referred to as “Generation Y”. This generation has been labelled many things by older generations:
- ‘Peter Pan’ generation because they take longer to grow up
- ‘Microwave’ generation because they want things instantly
- ‘Internet’ generation because they are always on their phones, Facebook, Twitter
This evening the awesome students of Level 3 Tangaroa College Drama perform a Dance Theatre piece about their generation, called “Gen-Y”.
The show will also include devised drama pieces about who the students are as individuals. They’re using the ‘Takarangi’ [double spiral] concept to explore ideas like:
- what things/moments/people have contributed to who you are today
- who is a person in your family history who has traits you want to carry with you into the future
- background of your name[s]
- significant “meetings”
- what from your past do you want to leave in the past/take with you into the future
- what are your dreams, goals, hopes for the future [career, kind of person you want to be, experiences you want to have]
“Gen-Y” has been made with the help of Moss Patterson and Gaby Thomas of Atamira Dance Company. The show is in our school hall and starts at 6pm. Entry is free.
